Trillanes reponds to the order of the Palace to arrest him: “Dito mo makikita na isang Diktador si Mr. Duterte”

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV responded on the proclamation of the palace which voided the amnesty given to him by the former Aquino administration. During an interview with the reporters, Trillanes said that the latest move of the palace against him was a political persecution. According to Trillanes, the order of the Palace against him proves that the President is a dictator and they’re doing everything just to prosecute the critics of the government. He also labeled the executive order ridiculous because he believes that the amnesty given to him was an act of Congress and it cannot be superseded. According to him, he passed all the requirements needed so he can be qualified for the amnesty. The Senator suggested that the Duterte government should study their proclamation carefully. He also accused Duterte of bribing the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) to pass the bar examinations. “In-apply namin iyon. Hindi ako bibigyan ng amnesty kung wala akong application. Kung ‘di ko nafulfill ang requirements, ‘di ako bibigyan.” Trillanes said. Trillanes also claimed that the President was coward because he went to Israel before issuing the executive order against him. “Mr. Duterte, hindi ako takot sayo. Bakit mo kailangan pang pumunta ng Israel?” Trillanes remarked. The Senator also said that he would not hide, or resist arrest. “Hindi ako magtatago, definitely. Ang sa’kin lang, my lawyers are exhausting all legal remedies. I will abide by the Senate leadership.” he said. He also once again challenged the President to sign the waiver so the public can access his bank accounts. Trillanes accused the President during the election period of hiding the mass amount of wealth in his bank accounts. “Isa lang hamon ko, pumirma siya (Duterte) ng waiver para magkaalaman.” he said. On Tuesday, Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Menardo Guevarra confirmed that President Duterte signed the proclamation no 572 declaring that the amnesty received by Trillanes was void. According to the proclamation, Trillanes “never expressed his guilt for the crimes that were committed on the occasion of the Oakwood Mutiny and the Manila Peninsula Siege.” The Palace ordered the DOJ and Court Martial of the Armed Forces of the Philippines “to pursue all criminal and administrative cases filed” against Trillanes.
